Commercial FAQ's
I am moving into your service area. How do I obtain
service?
Is there a deposit when obtaining service?
The amount of the deposit will vary by the size of the facility.
Are there any fee(s) when obtaining service?
The base non-refundable construction fee for temporary service
is $135.00. There is a $35.00 fee for reconnection of an existing
meter and a $5.00 membership fee for new members. Long line extensions
and underground service may have other additional fees. Request
that the field representative for your service identify any additional
fees.
Does Sawnee work on equipment inside my building?
Sawnee maintains and repairs all items up to the meter on most commercial
sites. We recommend seeking a licensed electrician to review any concerns about
inside wiring. If you're not sure about who owns the equipment, contact our Commercial Representatives directly or
contact our Customer Service Center by telephone.
What is single-phase service and three-phase service and which
is the least expensive?
Single-phase service is generally used for residential and very small
commercial applications. Three-phase service is used when you need to operate
large motors or equipment. Most retail stores like grocery stores have
three-phase service. Three-phase may not always be the best choice for your
business or operation. We recommend you talk with our Commercial Representatives directly
about your particular situation.
