Sawnee EMC Prepares for Winter Weather

As some of the coldest temperatures of the season are hitting north Georgia, Sawnee EMC stands ready to meet the needs of its members.  “We are staging our operations staff in key locations to prepare for a quick response to power outages should any problems develop this evening”, states Blake House, Vice President of Member and Energy Services.    “We are not expecting any problems; however, we know things sometimes happen such as a car hitting a pole or a squirrel getting into our lines, and should temperatures plummet as low as projected, we want to be prepared to respond quickly if needed”, he adds.

Sawnee EMC serves over 142,000 accounts through over 9,000 miles of distribution lines throughout North Georgia in a seven (7) county service area.  Sawnee EMC has a very low outage occurrence rate and provides local response to all service interruption events from its office centrally located in Cumming, Georgia.  With a trained and dedicated staff of over 300 professionals, Sawnee EMC is well positioned to address the energy related needs of its members.

Should you experience an outage, please call Sawnee’s office at (770) 887-2363 and report it to a member of the staff.    If you have internet access, please visit the web at www.sawnee.com and click on the link to report an outage.  Sawnee has interactive tools on the web which provide information on the location of outages along with additional “special” outage messages about the status of the various events.
