SAWNEE EMC
PROMOTES A BRIGHT IDEA:
THE COMPACT FLUORESCENT
An Effective and Efficient Way to Conserve Energy
(Cumming, GA February 7, 2007) –
For decades, Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (Sawnee EMC) has been
dedicated to serving its members and educating them on conserving energy in an
effort to lower their electric bills. One step that Sawnee EMC has recently
taken to support its members is the implementation of a residential compact
fluorescent light bulb rebate program. This rebate, which went into effect in
January 2006, “allows our consumers to make their homes more energy efficient
and get a little money back in their pocket – it is a great opportunity for us
to help them save energy,” states Blake House, Vice President of Member
Services. Mr. House further states that, “since its inception, Sawnee’s compact
fluorescent light bulb rebate has helped the members purchase over 5,000 compact
fluorescent bulbs and returned almost $10,000 in rebates.”
Can compact fluorescent light
bulbs really save money? The answer is ‘yes’. Compact fluorescents use only a
quarter (1/4) of the energy and each bulb lasts approximately ten (10) times
longer than incandescent light bulb. The best part – one compact fluorescent
can save as much as $30-$40 in energy costs over its life. Ready to get
involved? It’s easy… by purchasing a minimum of ten (10) compact fluorescent
light bulbs, a Sawnee EMC consumer can receive a rebate of ½ the cost, to a
maximum of $20.00.
Remember, Sawnee EMC also offers
rebates for insulation, programmable thermostats and ventilation…over
$375,000 was distributed in 2006 to consumers that took advantage of these
energy efficient upgrades. Additional details can be found online at
www.sawnee.com. To apply for a rebate, simply submit receipts or invoices to
Sawnee EMC’s Energy Services Department at 543 Atlanta Highway, Cumming, GA
30040 or fax them to 678-513-8106.
