SAWNEE EMC IMPLEMENTS OPERATION ROUND UP
CUMMING, GA (April 24, 2003) — On April 1, 2003 Sawnee EMC
announced the implementation of “Operation
Round Up”, an innovative program that provides financial assistance to 501(c)(3)
organizations in the Sawnee EMC service area. Money is raised through donations
and by Sawnee EMC members volunteering to have their monthly electric bill
rounded up to the nearest dollar. This small amount (approximately $6.00 a year
per participating member) will benefit worthy causes in our community. All, 100%, of the contributions will go to
make life better in our community.
Requests
for assistance will be evaluated and awarded by the Sawnee Electric Membership
Foundation’s board of directors. The Foundation board is comprised of volunteer
leaders from the community.
Operation
Round Up was originally founded by Palmetto Electric in 1989. Since the start
of the program, Palmetto Electric has been able to give $2.6 million back to
the communities they serve. The staff of Sawnee EMC wants to take the same idea
and apply it to its service area. Operation Round Up is an easy way for us all
to donate small change and together make big differences.
