SAWNEE ELECTRIC MEMBERSHIP CORPORATION DONATES TRUCK TO NORTH FULTON COMMUNITY CHARITIES
(Cumming, May 10, 2005)— A good neighbor helps out when there is someone in need and supports the community by getting involved; Sawnee EMC has followed this philosophy for 67 years. Sawnee recently joined with North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) to help form a better tomorrow for needy families in the North Metro area. NFCC has joined forces with nearly 30 business leaders in the Leadership North Fulton group and together, they have launched “Caring for Cars”, a vehicle donation program for the less-fortunate. On April 28, 2005, Sawnee EMC donated a “retired” 1996 S-10 pick-up truck to this innovative program. “Last year, NFCC donated cars to 52 families, but more were on the waiting list. This donation will give one family the ability to get to their job. Cars can be crucial to job hunters or people who must get to work in areas not directly on the MARTA bus route” said Barbara Duffy, Director of NFCC. To learn more about the Caring for Cars program, call 770-640-0399 or see www.nfcchelp.org.
