SAWNEE
ELECTRIC MEMBERSHIP FOUNDATION CALLS ALL CHARITIES
(Cumming, April 25, 2005)— Sawnee
EMC has long believed in commitment to community. For over 65 years, our
cooperative has served the members of Forsyth, Dawson, Cherokee, Lumpkin,
Gwinnett, North Fulton and Gainesville. It is through this commitment that
Sawnee EMC decided to adopt the Operation Round Up program.
Operation Round Up was founded in
1989 by Palmetto EMC and was adopted in April 2003 by Sawnee EMC. This program
allows our members to voluntarily have their energy bills “rounded up” to the
next whole dollar amount and donate the extra change to the Sawnee EMC
Foundation. The Foundation donates 100% of the funds back to the
communites through an application process.
In just over a year, the Sawnee
Foundation has given over $45,000.00 back to the communities! Our
generous members have expressed the desire to help their communities and now we
need qualifying and deserving charitable organizations to apply for funds.
The program is open to 501
(c)(3) and 501 (c)(4) organizations. Qualifying charities can apply
for funds by going to
www.sawnee.com and clicking on the Operation Round Up icon. The Foundation
meets quarterly to review applications and award funds. For more information
call Cindy King at 678-455-1539.
