CUMMING, GA. (May 28, 2002)
– Sawnee EMC has received safety accreditation from the National Rural Electric
Cooperative Association (NRECA) through its Rural Electric Safety Accreditation
Program
Based upon a three-year review period, the accreditation process involves a
thorough evaluation of safety initiatives, including consumer safety education
and the EMC’s internal safety efforts. This is the second time NRECA has
awarded the three-year accreditation to Sawnee EMC.
“Many hours were spent to achieve this accreditation. It is a very high honor
and speaks well of our staff, our programs and our commitment to a safe work
environment,” said Ronnie Owens, Sawnee EMC safety director.
Sawnee EMC serves more than 100,000 customers in a seven-county area, including
Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall and Lumpkin. It is the
third-largest electric cooperative in Georgia.
