Sawnee’s Alpharetta Office

Sawnee EMC announced today that it is restructuring its Alpharetta
office to serve as an operational center. This change will become effective on
July 1, 2001. “This change will allow us to centralize all of our customer
service activities and expand the use of certain aspects of our operational
activities,” states Michael A. Goodroe, Executive Vice President and General
Manager. Over the past several years, Sawnee EMC has moved to provide a higher
degree of customer service to its members via the telephone, fax, pay stations,
and over the internet. Today, Sawnee EMC offers the ability to pay a bill via a
credit card over the phone or via the internet, make application for new
electric service or disconnect service all via the phone or the internet, and
customers can fax documents directly to Sawnee’s Customer Service Center. All of
these services and many more have been designed to make customer service “hassle
free” and that means more time to do the things that you really need and want to
do.
“Several years ago, members of Sawnee were required to come to one
of our offices to do just simple tasks,” states Brenda Jeffers, Coordinator of
Member Accounts. “Now we provide faster and easier service without the necessity
of someone appearing in person at one of our offices,” she adds. Sawnee EMC saw
the need to expand its presence in several of the communities that it serves and
does so via an economical arrangement with locally oriented banks that provide
pay station services. Sawnee EMC now has eight (8) pay stations located
throughout its service area. With three (3) serving the Sawnee members in the
north Fulton portion of its service area, a person does not have to go far to
find a location to drop off a payment. Members who currently use Sawnee’s
Alpharetta office can continue to do so at the drop box (e.g. night deposit) or
at one of the two pay stations that serve this area.
“We see this as a win-win situation,” states Gary Mauldin, Chief
Operating Officer for Sawnee. “We are able to better utilize the facilities to
support our distribution operations and not impact the services that we deliver
to our members of the area,” he adds. Sawnee plans to place staff in this
facility from other functioning areas of the cooperative.
