Sawnee EMC’s Green Power Program Receives National

Certification From Green-e Energy

Sawnee EMC’s Customers Can Now Sign Up for a Certified Renewable Energy Option

CUMMING, GA (August 14, 2008) — The Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) in San Francisco, CA announced today that Sawnee EMC’s green pricing program, “Sawnee EMC Green Power Service Rider”, is now Green-e Energy Certified.  Sawnee EMC joins the growing network of renewable energy providers that offer products certified by Green-e Energy, the nation’s leading certification and verification program for renewable energy.

“We are very pleased to announce that Sawnee EMC will participate in Green-e Energy by offering certified renewable electricity to its members,” said Andreas Karelas, Green-e Program Analyst.  “Sawnee EMC’s green pricing program has given its members the option to purchase local, clean electricity to power their homes and businesses.”

By participating in Sawnee EMC’s Green Power Program, members will support renewable resources in Georgia, as well as help drive the development of new renewable resources in-state and nationwide.

“For over 70 years, Sawnee has been focused on serving our members,” stated Michael Goodroe, President and CEO of Sawnee EMC.  “We were a founding member of the first green power program in Georgia because our members were interested in renewable energy; we realize the benefits of providing a clean, environmentally friendly energy option to our members.  We are very proud to receive certification from Green-e Energy and hope that our members will support our Green Power program.”

Green-e Energy is the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in the U.S., with over 190 participating vendors that sold nearly 10 million megawatt-hours of renewable energy in 2006. The program provides independent, third-party certification to ensure certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer protection standards.  Sawnee EMC is the first EMC in Georgia to receive the Green-e certification.

Providers of Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy agree to abide by the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict disclosure and truth-in-advertising requirements. All marketers of Green-e Energy Certified products undergo an annual verification audit to document that the company purchased and/or generated enough quantity and type of renewable energy to meet customer demand and marketing claims.

The Green-e logo, the national symbol for renewable energy excellence, enables a growing number of consumers to easily identify high quality, certified renewable energy options, as well as everyday consumer products that are produced by companies that use renewable energy in their operations.
