Sawnee EMC Named as 2001 Business Partner of the Year

It was announced today that Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, Inc. named Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (Sawnee) as its 2001 Business Partner of the Year. Sawnee is receiving this award for their participation in the Christmas tree recycling program known as ”Bring one for the Chipper”. During 2000, almost 4000 Christmas Trees were recycled in Forsyth County and statewide almost 350,000 tress were diverted from disposal in landfills.

“ This is a great honor and we are very proud to be named their 2001 Business Partner of the Year,” states Michael A. Goodroe, Executive Vice President and General Manager. Sawnee’s commitment to the various communities in which it serves is exhibited in many ways and helping with local projects is a key part of its overall mission. “ We want to be an integral part of the various communities in which we serve and this program is just one way we are meeting this goal,” states Blake House, Marketing Representative for Sawnee.
