Residential Rates
Some residential customers may benefit from a different rate. The regular residential rate is used for the majority of our residential customers. This rate remains the same throughout the year as long as usage stays below 1000 kilowatt-hours. During the months of June through September, usage over 1000 kilowatt-hours is billed at a slightly higher rate than the months of October through May.
Another option for residential customers is the Time of Use Rate (TU-12). Our TU-12 rate is a good option for weekend get-away homes, second shift schedules from 12:00 p.m. to after 8:00 p.m., or for those who travel a great deal during the summer months. TU-12 is based on the demand for electricity in a home. If the electric usage can be reduced during peak demand times, typically June 1 through September 10 between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., a homeowner can experience a lower price per kilowatt-hour during off-peak demand times. However, the kilowatt-hours used during peak demand times cost more than the regular residential rate. The TU-12 rate also requires signing a one-year contract. If you are interested in the TU-12 rate, carefully review the requirements, and then contact our Customer Service Center for any additional questions or to sign up.
