Residential Rebates and Incentives

Members can receive grants for making energy efficiency improvements to their home. It is recommended that members have an on-site evaluation performed by an Energy Services Representative (ESR) to insure eligibility for grant money. Upgraded measures must be inspected and/or verified by an ESR. It is at the ESR’s sole discretion to determine which measures are applicable at the site. Grant money may be obtained through the calendar year of 2013 while funds are available.

Programs and Grants are subject to change without notice. All rebates are issued as a credit on the member's electric bill on the billing statement following verification. These rebates only apply to work that is completed in 2013 and are not retroactive. Grants may be obtained for the following improvements when verified by an ESR:

1 Attic Insulation Upgrade
When recommended by an ESR, a member can receive an energy grant for increasing their structure’s entire attic insulating value to R-49 or greater. Does not apply to homes built after 1/1/08.

2 Solar / Photovoltaic Systems
A one-time rebate of $300 per kilowatt (kW) of DC installed, up to 10kW for members who qualify. Must meet Sawnee EMC Net metering guidelines.

3 Low Income Weatherization
To assist in the weatherization of homes occupied by members considered low income, Sawnee can award a maximum of $200 to a local community agency that will provide weatherization assistance to the member. Follow up inspection required by an ESR.

4 2nd Refrigerator/Freezer Turn-In
When recommended by an ESR, Sawnee will pay a $30 incentive, and remove the unit, for a member to replace their working 2nd refrigerator or freezer with an Energy Star model; the old unit must be at least 10 years old.

5 Electric Hybrid Water Heater
Sawnee will pay an incentive of $100 for a member to replace an existing water heater with a new energy saving Hybrid Water Heater.

6 Duct Sealing
When recommended by an ESR, a member can receive an energy grant to do a professional grade duct sealing of their ductwork with mastic.
One time rebate of half (½) of the cost up to a maximum of $100 per home for Duct Sealing
7 HVAC Tune Up
Sawnee will pay an incentive of one-half (1/2) of the cost up to $25 per system for a member to have a professional Air Conditioner/Heat Pump "tune up" performed at their residence on the outside condensing unit.

8 Central Cooling Load Management Switch
For each central air conditioner or heat pump load management switch installed on the member’s equipment, Sawnee will provide an annual participation credit of $12.00 per switch per month for June, July, and August. Such credit will be applied to member’s account.

New/Existing Home Rebates Members can receive rebate(s) for building an Energy Star Home or installing Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment by a certified and licensed HVAC contractor when used as the primary heating system in their home or business. The request to receive rebate money MUST be accompanied by an Energy Star Certificate for the new home. A request for a HVAC rebate MUST include a certified and licensed HVAC contractor’s invoice and proof of payment by the member or builder. Rebate money is not paid until the home or HVAC installation has been inspected and verified by an ESR. All rebate money shall be paid to the member. It is recommended that the member or builder obtain an evaluation prior to installing equipment. It is the ESR’s sole discretion to decide applicability of rebates for each installation. Rebate money may be obtained through the calendar year of 2013 while funds are available. Program and Rebates are subject to change without notice. If a member builds a home to Energy Star Home standards they may be eligible for a rebate of 100% of the cost of the professional inspection required to certify the home as Energy Star up to a maximum of $500 per home.

2 Existing Home Heat Pump Rebate
A member may be eligible for a rebate for the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump having an outside unit that has a Yellow ENERGY GUIDE Rating of 15.0 SEER or higher as a replacement for an existing system or as an addition to the home. A Sawnee EMC Load Management Switch Must be installed to qualify.

3 Existing Home Air Conditioner Rebate
A member may be eligible for a rebate for the installation of an Air Conditioner having an outside unit that has a Yellow ENERGY GUIDE Rating of 15.0 SEER or higher as a replacement for an existing system or as an addition to the home. A Sawnee EMC Load Management Switch Must be installed to qualify.
