Members can receive grants for making recommended improvements to their home.  Member MUST have an on-site evaluation performed by an Energy Service Representative (ESR) and accompanied by the ESR’s recommended measures to be eligible for grant money.  Grant money is not paid until ALL recommended measures have been inspected and verified by an ESR.  It is at the ESR’s sole discretion to decide which measures are necessary and applicable at the site.  Grant money may be obtained through the calendar year of 2008 while funds are available.  Measures not completed within thirty (30) days of recommendation are subject to change. Attic Insulation Upgrade
When recommended by an ESR, a member can receive an energy grant for increasing their structure’s attic insulating value to R-38 or greater. Does not apply to homes built after 1/1/05.

Programmable Thermostats
When recommended by an ESR, a member can receive an energy grant for installing a programmable thermostat to their structure’s Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system(s).

½ of the cost up to a maximum of $25.00 for each HVAC system

Ventilation Upgrades
When recommended by an ESR, a member can receive an energy grant for installing additional ventilation to their structure’s attic space. Grant may include labor.

½ of the total cost up to a maximum of $75.00

Central Cooling Load Management Switch
For each central air conditioner or heat pump load management switch installed on the member’s equipment, Sawnee will provide an annual participation credit of $10.00 (paid in two [2] equal amounts of $5.00) per switch.  Such credit will be applied to member’s account. Click Here for more details

Residential Lighting Upgrades
Sawnee will provide incentives to customers who replace incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs.

½ of the total cost up to a maximum of $20.00 for replacing a minimum of 10 bulbs

HVAC Air Filter Replacement
Sawnee EMC will provide an incentive to customers who regularly maintenance their HVAC equipment by replacing their old air filter with new efficient filter.  Fiberglass filters do not apply.
$5.00 maximum rebate for minimum $10 purchase of air filters

Low Income Weatherization
To assist in the weatherization of homes occupied by members deemed low income, Sawnee can award a maximum of $200 to a local community agency that will provide weatherization assistance to the member.  Follow up inspection required by an ESR.

Existing Home Rebates

Members can receive rebate(s) for installing Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment by a certified & licensed HVAC contractor when used as the primary heating system in their home.  The request to receive rebate money MUST be accompanied by a certified & licensed HVAC contractor’s invoice and proof of payment by the member or builder.  Rebate money is not paid until the installation has been inspected and verified by an ESR.  All rebate money shall be paid to the member.  It is recommended that the member or builder obtain an evaluation prior to installing equipment.  It is the ESR’s sole discretion to decide applicability of rebates for each installation.  Rebate money may be obtained through the calendar year of 2008 while funds are available.  Program and Rebates are subject to change without notice.  Rebates may be obtained for the following when recommended or applicable.

Existing Home Heat Pump Rebate
A member may be eligible for a rebate for the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump having a SEER rating of 14.0 or higher as a replacement for an existing system or as an addition to the home. 

$75.00 per ton on heat pump systems,  $375.00 site maximum
