GreenPower is a term that is used to describe many unconventional methods of producing electricity. These “environmentally friendly” methods include:

• Wind Power
• Solar Power (photovoltaic)
• Low-Impact Hydro Resources
• Landfill Gas
• Sewage Methane Gas
• Agricultural Waste and Residue
• Animal Litter
• Biomass of any kind

By utilizing these natural methods, as well as the bi-product methods, Sawnee EMC would be able to lessen the impact that conventional means of producing electricity has on the environment. However, producing electricity by utilizing the green methods mentioned above is more expensive than conventional methods such as nuclear, coal or natural gas.

That is where you come in…

All Sawnee EMC members are now eligible to purchase Green Power from Sawnee EMC on a “first come, first served” basis. Sawnee’s GreenPower Program is Green-e Certified by CRS and is now available to members in "blocks" of 100 kWh for an additional $3.00 per month or 150 kWh for an additional $4.50 per month.  Member can purchase as many blocks as they desire, so hurry because the supply is limited!
