Did you know that Sawnee EMC wants you to use less electricity? Believe it or not - it’s the truth. That is why we constantly encourage our members to conserve energy. One of the ways that Sawnee assists its members with making their homes more energy efficient is through our rebate and incentive programs. Our rebates cover a range of many different energy efficient upgrades. One of our most popular is the Residential Lighting rebate. This rebate assists in the purchase of compact fluorescent light bulbs. If you purchase a minimum of 10 CFLs, you will receive a rebate of 1/2 of the cost to a maximum of $20. A compact fluorescent light bulb uses only a quarter (1/4) of the energy of a standard incandescent bulb and can save as much as $30-$40 in energy costs over its life. Sawnee EMC also offers many other rebates and incentives designed to help make your home more energy efficient. For more details, visit our Energy Center online at www.sawnee.com.
Our Mission Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation exists to serve the changing needs of members by enhancing the quality of life by actively supporting community developments and identifying and serving the members' needs.

Is your significant other putting together a “project” list for you this spring? Maybe you’re trying to mark a few items off last year’s list. Either way, you may want to consider the “cool” benefits of an interior ceiling fan. A ceiling fan can make a real difference in your home’s climate. Even better, a ceiling fan can help to lower your summer energy bill. Ceiling fans produce a “wind chill” effect that can make you feel cooler in a particular room, while keeping your thermostat at a higher temperature. Ceiling fans cost much less to operate than your air conditioner. For example, a ceiling fan uses approximately 1 cent per hour, while the average 2.5 ton air conditioner uses approximately 30 cents per hour. When purchasing a ceiling fan, be sure to keep your ceiling height in mind. Ideally, for maximum cooling, the fan blades should be 7’ to 8’ above the floor. For ceilings 9’ tall or taller, a down rod may be required to position the fan at the proper height above the floor. In rooms with low ceilings, choose a fan design that “hugs” the ceiling to ensure maximum air movement with maximum clearance. If ceiling fans just became the newest addition to your spring “project” list, it will be well worth the time and effort. If you have any additional questions about the benefits of ceiling fans, contact our Energy Services Department at 678-455-1579. |

They come around every month without fail. That’s right…utility bills…and all that check writing can be long and tedious (not to mention rough on your hands). Why not let Sawnee EMC help? By participating in Sawnee’s bank draft program, you will never have to write another check for your electric bill again! This program allows Sawnee to “automatically” draft your bank account for the amount shown on your current electric bill. You will still receive a statement, either paper or email. Either method will note the date the draft will occur and we wait until the last minute to process the draft, allowing the money to stay in your account until the latest possible date without incurring a late penalty with SEMC. Signing up is easy. Get started today by contacting our Customer Call Center at 770-887-2363 or visit us online at www.sawnee.com. With bank draft in place, sit back and sip on a cool glass of iced tea and let us do the rest! It’s that easy. Did we tell you the service is free and you can cancel at any time?
