Overview - Want to Get Involved?
You can make your thoughts known on each of the three (3) proposed PURPA
standards being considered by Sawnee by getting involved. This can
occur in one of two (2) ways.
Become a “Formal Party of Record” and receive access and information
about the standards and what other Formal Parties are saying. Alternatively,
you can offer your comments through our less formal process we call
“Limited Appearance.” Either way, you can let us know what you think.
Here’s how.
Can Anyone Get Involved?
PURPA provides that the certain persons may intervene and participate in
Sawnee’s PURPA hearing and they are:
1.
The United States Secretary of Energy;
2.
Any affected electric utility; and
3.
Any electric consumer of an affected electric utility (e.g.
Members of Sawnee EMC)
Got More Questions on Who Can Get Involved?
For more information on intervention, please see
Rule 4 of Sawnee’s
PURPA manual.
I
Want to Become an Intervener!
Persons who meet any of the eligibility requirements as outlined above
and who properly file a “Notice of Intervention” with Sawnee by the
prescribed deadline, and agrees to adhere to Sawnee’s procedural
requirements, will be entered as "Formal Party of Record", or an
“Intervener,” in Sawnee’s PURPA hearings. A Sawnee EMC member who
wishes to become an Intervener should complete the following steps:
For more information on intervention, please see
Rule 4 of Sawnee's PURPA manual
How Else Can I Get Involved?
If you do not meet the eligibility requirements as outlined above or do
not wish to intervene as a Formal Party of Record, but nonetheless would
like to offer a statement of your position or views on the three (3) new
PURPA standards that Sawnee is considering, you may do so by making a
“limited appearance.”
This “limited appearance” may be in writing (on a form created for that
purpose), or it may be presented verbally to a Court Reporter who will
be present on the day of the hearing.
In either case, the “limited appearance” statement will be made an
official part of the record for consideration by Sawnee’s Board of
Directors.
For more information on making a “limited appearance,” please see
Rule 5 of Sawnee’s PURPA manual.
What Happens to My Comments?
Comments on each standard under consideration will become part of the
official record. The official record will be used by the Board of Sawnee
to make its determination as to what action should be adopted as a part
of its consideration. In order to be assured that your comments are
considered, all written submissions (including a Notice of Intervention
and a written “limited appearance”) should be filed with Sawnee’s PURPA
Officer in accordance with
Rule 3 of the PURPA manual.
Where is the Testimony associated with this hearing?
We have placed in the left sidebar on this page the various filed
testimony of the witnesses that will be testifying at the hearing on January 20, 2009.
These testimonies will provide you with insight into the positions being
taken relative to the PURPA standards that are under review and the
comments that will be included as a part of the official record.
